Oral surgery is a discipline that general practitioners should be familiar with aspects of in order to facilitate surgical treatments if required. Many aspects of general dental practice require a sound understanding of basic surgical principles and techniques.
When these techniques are not practiced regularly, it is very easy for once polished skills to become rusty. This course aims to provide basic introduction to surgical dentistry including relevant aspects of dental and orofacial anatomy, surgical equipment, basic surgical techniques and suturing. The workshop will use a variety of teaching methods including lecture and hands on practical skills sessions using pig heads and other materials.
